Frequently asked questions

Yes — SANLUK indoor floor hatches are specifically engineered to accept tile, stone, or engineered wood finishes directly inside the recessed tray. The tray is manufactured to standard tile depths so that the finished surface sits flush with the surrounding floor without any step or lip. A flexible silicone perimeter joint accommodates thermal movement and keeps the finish looking clean over time.

SANLUK indoor floor access hatches are rated for standard pedestrian foot traffic and comply with load class requirements for residential and light commercial interiors. The aluminium frame distributes point loads evenly, preventing deflection under regular use. For areas with higher traffic intensity such as commercial lobbies, please contact our technical team to confirm the appropriate reinforced model.

SANLUK indoor hatches are designed for a true flush installation — when closed and filled with the correct flooring material, the cover surface is level with the surrounding floor to within ±1 mm. The precision-machined aluminium frame provides a straight, clean reveal with no raised edges that could catch feet or create a trip hazard. Adjustable frame feet allow for fine levelling during installation.

Our indoor floor hatch range covers floor construction depths from 50 mm up to 150 mm, accommodating most screed, batten, and raised-floor systems. Each product listing specifies the minimum and maximum compatible floor depth. Custom depths outside this range can be manufactured to order — contact our technical sales team with your floor build-up details.

SANLUK indoor floor hatches are manufactured from anodised aluminium with stainless steel hardware, requiring minimal routine maintenance. We recommend periodically cleaning the frame channel with a damp cloth and applying a light silicone lubricant to the hinge and gas-spring mechanism once a year. The gas-spring cartridge can be replaced independently if required without disturbing the floor finish.
