SANLUK ceiling and loft hatches incorporate a PIR-insulated panel that achieves a U-value as low as 1.0 W/m²K, significantly reducing heat loss through the ceiling into an unheated loft or attic void. A continuous foam perimeter seal compresses when the hatch is closed, eliminating draughts around the frame. For Passivhaus and low-energy projects, our premium insulated models achieve U-values below 0.5 W/m²K with an upgraded panel core.
SANLUK offers both push-up and spring-hinged opening mechanisms depending on the model and application. Push-up versions are suited to shallow ceiling voids where the panel simply lifts clear of the frame and is set aside, while spring-hinged models fold the panel down on an integrated hinge for one-hand operation from below without needing to remove the panel entirely. All hinged models include an adjustable friction stay to hold the hatch open at the desired angle.
SANLUK loft hatches are designed for a fully flush installation so that the frame face sits level with the surrounding plasterboard or plaster ceiling. The frame depth is adjustable to suit ceiling construction thicknesses from 9 mm to 30 mm, and the slim visible reveal is finished in white powder-coat that can be overpainted to match any ceiling colour. The result is a clean, barely visible line in the ceiling with no protruding edges.
Yes — SANLUK offers EI 30 and EI 60 fire-rated ceiling hatches for installation in compartment ceilings where a fire-resistance period is required by building regulations. The fire-rated models are tested and certified to EN 1634-1 and include intumescent seals that expand on heat exposure to close any gaps between the frame and panel. A certificate of conformity is supplied with each fire-rated unit for inclusion in the building O&M documentation.
SANLUK ceiling and loft hatches are available in standard sizes from 400 × 400 mm up to 700 × 900 mm, covering the most common requirements for personal access to loft and attic spaces. All standard sizes are held in stock for immediate dispatch. Custom sizes for larger equipment-access openings or non-standard ceiling modules can be manufactured to order — contact our team with your required clear-opening dimensions.
