SANLUK outdoor floor hatches are available in pedestrian class B (125 kN point load), light vehicle class C (250 kN), and heavy vehicle class D (400 kN) ratings in accordance with EN 124. The correct load class depends on the installation location — pedestrian areas, driveways, car parks, or roadways — and should be confirmed before ordering. Our technical team can provide load calculation support and product recommendations for your specific project.
SANLUK outdoor hatches feature a marine-grade aluminium frame with a continuous EPDM rubber seal that compresses under the weight of the closed cover, creating a watertight joint. The hinge pocket and gas-spring housing are fully enclosed to prevent water ingress, and all fasteners are A4 stainless steel to resist salt-air corrosion. An integrated perimeter drainage channel directs surface runoff away from the joint.
The cover surface on all SANLUK outdoor floor hatches features a raised chequer-plate pattern or diamond-grip profile that provides a slip-resistance rating of R11 in accordance with EN 13893, suitable for wet external conditions. Optional recessed versions allow the cover to be filled with matching paving, block, or grating material to integrate with the surrounding hardscape. Anti-slip inserts are available as a retrofit accessory for existing installations.
Yes — SANLUK outdoor floor hatches are tested for freeze-thaw resistance in accordance with EN 1339, and the marine-grade aluminium alloy used in the frame does not suffer from corrosion or dimensional change in repeated frost conditions. The EPDM seal remains flexible at temperatures down to −40 °C, maintaining its waterproof performance throughout winter. Drainage channels are sized to prevent ice damming at the frame joint.
All SANLUK outdoor floor hatches are supplied with a flush stainless steel quarter-turn lock as standard, keeping the cover secure against unauthorised access and preventing the cover being lifted by wind pressure or surface-water uplift. Optional double-lock versions with two-point locking bars are available for security-sensitive applications such as utility vaults and telecoms chambers. A padlock hasp can also be fitted as an additional security measure.
