SANLUK recessed floor hatch trays are available in standard depths of 25 mm, 40 mm, and 60 mm to accommodate a full range of floor coverings including ceramic tiles, natural stone, engineered timber, and resin. The tray is sized so that the filling material sits level with the surrounding floor once the adhesive bed and tile are in place. Custom depths can be manufactured for non-standard floor build-ups.

The recess tray is surrounded by a stainless steel or aluminium frame with a continuous silicone compression seal that prevents water, dust, and fine debris from entering the mechanism below. On our wet-area models, an additional secondary seal is fitted at the tray perimeter for enhanced waterproofing in bathrooms and shower areas. The tray can be lifted out for cleaning without any tools.

Selected SANLUK recessed hatch models include a perimeter drainage channel that directs surface water away from the frame joint, preventing water pooling and seepage into the void below. This feature is particularly valuable in areas subject to wet cleaning or occasional flooding. The drainage channel connects to a standard waste outlet and is included in the product installation drawings available on our website.

Yes — all SANLUK recessed floor hatches are designed so the infill tray can be fully removed for cleaning or to replace the floor covering without disturbing the frame. The tray is retained by recessed stainless steel clips that release with a quarter-turn, making removal quick and tool-free. This design also allows the tile or stone filling to be replaced if it becomes damaged over time.

Standard flexible tile adhesive complying with EN 12004 class C2 is recommended for bonding tiles or stone to the SANLUK recess tray, ensuring adhesion to the aluminium substrate. A flexible, sanded grout with a silicone additive should be used at the joint between the tile and the surrounding frame to allow for thermal movement.
